Wireless transmission of electricity

To remove the power cord to periodic recharging the batteries for laptops, cell phones and other household appliances we are now planning a research group of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) led by Marin Soljacic explained that their studies of the American Institute Physics Industrial Physics Forum (IPF) being held in San Francisco under the auspices of American Institute of Physics.
Of course, that energy can be transferred from a distance is in itself a trivial fact, the problem is rather the efficiency of the transfer. It is not guaranteed either by a technology that provides the first converting electricity into light radiation and then the subsequent conversion into electricity (which also requires a line of fully clears) and the recourse to ordinary electromagnetic radiation, which disperses in the environment and could pose risks.
Soljacic thought that the phenomenon induction short-haul - one that takes place for example in any processor - could also transfer energy over longer distances a little more, the size of a room, a pact to take to the field a form appropriate. Rather than radiate the environment with electromagnetic waves, a power transmitter would fill the space around a field elettromegnetico "non-life", by which energy is drawn from a special unit designed to "ring out" with it, whereas' Energy is not absorbed by the receiver should be absorbed dall'emettitore.
"At first was neither clear nor obvious if the system could really work, especially the limits imposed by the materials currently available," said Soljacic, but according to the calculations and simulations developed by its working group, at least the power Wireless small appliances could be a reality not too far away.

... But already Nikola Tesla intended to convey the power, not small amounts, but is widely used for household and industrial. Imagine a satellite dish on the roof that collects the power without the need for cables. Science fiction? No! Tesla succeeded in 1899 by the Colorado Spring station generator and a new concept to transmit the amount of power needed to light 200 bulbs placed at 40 Km away. The magante John Pierpoint Morghan was interested in the experiments of Tesla and financed his draft: "The World System"!
Born in 1856 in Smiljan in Yugoslavia (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), left Europe in 1884 at a time of America. Arrived in New York bringing with him some articles written in Paris and Belgrade, designs for a flying machine, some of his poems and 4 U.S. cents. It seemed one of the many migrants in search of fortune, but the head had all proposed generator polyphase alternating current, a device for transforming the current into alternating from continuing. His genius in the field of electricity enabled him to immediately begin working for Edison, for which he created 24 different types of dynamo.
Finally decided to create their own and developed a draft of polyphase generator, which in 1895 was used in all power plants. This allowed him to earn the sum of 216,000 U.S. dollars, and 30 other patented inventions, but his plan was much broader, something that still seems science fiction.
Tesla lived alone and so eccentric (on the table always claimed that there were 18 napkins folded in particular), but his genius was unique. It was the forerunner of the experiments radio, in 1898 had tried publicly to Madison Square Garden in New York a boat owned radio and the following year a radio station in Colorado Spring on the Rocky Mountains. In 1912 he was offered the Nobel Prize, but he refused outraged by the fact of not having received in 1909 instead of Guglielmo Marconi.
Tesla wanted to use the natural electrical vibration of the earth to produce electricity at the cost ZERO! But shortly after, for reasons unknown, Morgan withdrew funding and Tesla was forced to demolish his installations. Fell into a deep depression crisis, but that does not prevent him from inventing a device characteristics similar to a laser.
He was a convinced pacifist and wrote about "We can not eliminate the war put outlaws: the only way to avoid it is to make sure that every nation is able to defend themselves. I was lucky enough to develop a new idea that can be used especially on defense. (...) With my invention can destroy anything approaching within a radius of 320 kilometers "(And to think that billions are spent to develop a shield stellar invented almost 100 years ago).
Nicola Tesla died in 1943, alone and frustrated for not being able to impose some of its projects based on electromagnetic waves.
But the inventions of Nicola Tesla had in a hundred years ahead of its time, and only recently (1987) two of its patents have been rediscovered, this is a pump and without a turbine blade, two systems that have proved useful in Aeronautics in order to improve the safety of aircraft.
A speech to party deserves the "World System". The clipboard of the great generator disappeared mysteriously after the death of the scientist. Some argue that they have been stolen and taken in Eastern Europe, where the machine was built in secret. But why in secret? Some scientists argued that such a machine was capable of causing total Black Out in whole regions and to change the weather, it was suggested that even been able to influence the behavior of the human brain.
But the idea of Tesla is not lost, a few years ago some Robert Golkar was rebuilt equipment Colorado Spring, but who knows nothing of his experiments. An eminent physicist at MIT, Bernard Eastlund, experienced in computer simulation the effects that would have a machine like the one suggested by Tesla. The electromagnetic waves reaching the ionosphere would be able to cause immense Blackout, destroying equipment and change in flight time. Inventions humanitarian Tesla turned into weapons seem terrible if left in the hands of the wrong people.
A darkest part of the life of Tesla covers the period following the end of the project "Global System". The scientist was hired by the U.S. government along with other scientists, including Einstein, to develop the project known as Philadephia Experiment. Consisted of a project to make a military vessel invisible to radar screens. On a ship was mounted a electrical generator of new concept and was testing it. But something went in a different way. The ship disappeared, as well as from radar screens, even physically. There is only one witness of quell'esperimento.
The ship was in a sort of tunnel in which the colors changed and turbines three seamen are cast overboard ... and found themselves outside the military base where he started the experiment. Went to Billings and asked the project developer, but when I saw it realized that it was much older .... Were spent almost 40 years.
After the failure of the Philadelphia Experiment Tesla is that Einstein was removed from office because unreliable. (They were both convinced pacifist.)
