The atopic dermatitis in children and infants

Strikes since the early months of life, but in most cases it reduces growing. Serve to alleviate a cure careful and sensitive skin, good emollient, a drug and should be avoided allergens.
Redness, cracks, blisters, Taglietti and bubbles: these are the typical signs of atopic dermatitis, a skin disease on the basis that may affect immune children since the early months of life and that appears increasingly widespread, like all other Allergic forms, in Western countries. To the point that now at least one child in five suffers to some extent.
To reassure the mothers should be said immediately that the vast majority of cases the disorder is not serious, however, is weakening in Childhood, often to get to completely disappear after adolescence. However, especially in the infant, atopic dermatitis can be very annoying and makes an indispensable always attentive care of the skin, usually already very fragile and delicate, on the occasion of the many police operations that dot the day of little change between a diaper and a milky smudges.
At the base there is an allergy, but ...
The atopic dermatitis is manifested initially with erythema, a reddening of the skin, which may make itching and worsening with the emergence of small bubbles. Thereafter, the inflammation can cause a thickening of the skin, which takes a look peeling and dusty. " A trigger this process, in whole or in part, is that the immune system, still in the process of maturation and particularly prone to committing errors in recognition of substances against which it fought, reacts so disproportionate to one or more compounds present in or made with milk to mush.
Very often, the propensity all'atopia a genetic basis and is inherited from parents shows that, whether the Mum and dad have suffered during childhood, are also almost always interested in children and in a similar way. For the same reason, not infrequently, the disorder is only the first signal of what doctors call "allergic march", namely a more general tendency to develop allergies to various substances, which over time can lead to appearance of allergic contact dermatitis, allergic rhinitis or conjunctivitis and, in serious cases, all'asma.
However, it should be noted that there are also forms of atopy where the immune component, though this is marginal and that they need to have fun competing factors, in most cases still largely evident.
Before you act better clarify
Among the main substances that can trigger the notoriously atopy may include milk protein vaccine-and wheat, some plant compounds and additives and other elements of synthetic or natural environment such as dust mites The fur of pets, latex and nickel.
If there is the suspicion that the dermatitis has an origin food is useful to try to identify which specific allergen hidden in foods may be responsible and, as far as possible and with the support of the pediatrician, exclude them from the diet.
But this strategy must take into account a key aspect: what the mother eats can pass into milk and then come in contact with the child even before weaning. It is what happens in cases such as dell'atopia induced by cow's milk drunk by children but not the mother but when. That said, it should be noted that exclusive breast feeding for the first six months of life is the ideal way to prevent allergic reactions or at least to postpone the appearance of some years, when their management becomes less problematic.
In addition, it is useful to regularly clean the house by environmental allergens with careful cleaning, possibly even making use of specific products antiacarus and deumidificare the air to reduce the proliferation of molds and fungal spores. For the child's bed, then, many recommend the use of spreading antiacarus. Needless to say, and finally, that cigarette smoke, irritant and allergic to the mucosa of the airways as well as damaging many other organs, should be abolished by both parents and the mother during pregnancy.
Test specific and sensitive
The tests that can guide the identification of specific causes that trigger atopic dermatitis skin allergy are those like the prick and patch test. There are, however, sufficient to make a definitive diagnosis in the case of positivity is needed to diet of exclusion and gradual reintegration of food risk in a controlled environment, that is in hospital in cases of particular gravity.
If the exclusion there is an actual improvement of symptoms and then reintroducing them esaspera, one can evaluate the opportunity to eliminate the food critic from the diet. But everything must be done with caution and only if the gravity of events warrants such a measure as to deprive a child of very small important nutrients may create more problems than you would like to solve.
The atopic dermatitis draws, however, certainly benefit from pharmacological therapy and some practical nell'igiene daily. The first advice is do not wash too many children and do not use soap or detergents that removing the natural protective layer hydrolipidic surface, has not entered the skin and facilitate the entry of allergens.
Much better to opt for oils, soaps non-soap "or, in the case of infants, the only water for at least the first few months is more than enough to ensure an adequate police because their skin situations are very scarce. Among the drugs are useful antihistamines, both to reduce the hypersensitivity and itching, often this is to calm the child and help you sleep at night, and the cortisone creams, which must be used with caution, however, and only on the advice of pediatrician to avoid side effects.
On the occasion of their use must also remember not to expose your child to the sun in the hours after application (a simple solution to avoid problems and not to limit the little games outdoors is to use the drug cortisone before bedtime). It is also very important to ensure proper hydration and skin protection, stretch daily on critical areas emollient creams without nickel, perfumes, preservatives or other additives potentially allergenic and enriched lipid compounds which favor maintaining the integrity of the skin barrier and regeneration skin, for example pantenolo and vitamins.
Practical advice anti-atopy
- Do not exceed the washes not to endanger further the already precarious balance of the skin (the removal of the film hydrolipidic desired superficial skin and encourages the entry of allergens)
- click delicate detergent, soap or without other components allergens such as perfumes and preservatives. There are appropriate specifically designed for atopic skin
- dry skin well after each wash and dab lightly and without witches
- apply creams, those profits based pantenolo (provitamin B5) oils or emollients and repairing after each washing, if necessary several times a day
- Do not use fiber irritant in direct contact with the skin of the child, preferring cotton garments
- for clothes and linen fabrics opt for a white point (dark colors contain chemical compounds potentially allergenic)
- not to cover the baby too because sweating may also create discomfort, promotes inflammation of the skin
- trying to keep the baby sun as much as possible, after applying appropriate UV protection, because sunlight improves very quickly and the symptoms of atopic dermatitis, to make them disappear (so much so that in adults, with the reasoning UVA is used as a real therapy, known as PUVA, which was not given in childhood)

The atopic dermatitis (also called eczema atopic eczema or constitutional) is the manifestation skin dell'atopia (hereditary predisposition that favors the allergic reactions) is the most common dermatosis age children and is widely popular even among very young children. In the infant injuries have a eczematoso and a bright red color, is often with swelling and sometimes blisters, are located mainly on the face (forehead, cheeks and under tion savings of the nose and the region around the mouth) and the extensor surfaces of arts. The clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis is accompanied by itching, which is usually intermittent and intense especially during evening and night.
It is known that a greater amount of vitamin C in the diet can contain the risk of developing atopy, breast milk contains a considerable share of this vitamin, but the proportion may be increased by acting on maternal diet. The researchers examined a group of mothers with atopy the end of their first month of breastfeeding. The maternal diet has been registered for four consecutive days and were analyzed samples of milk, was detected any presence of atopic dermatitis in children in their first year of life.
The interesting point was the ability to affect the proportion of vitamin C in breast milk but only through natural sources, namely ensuring the choice of foods naturally rich in this vitamin. The supplements of vitamin C have not produced changes in the composition of milk. Another noteworthy is the fact that children at risk of sub-optimal intake of vitamin C in breast milk were children of women suffering from food intolerance.
During breast-feeding, maternal diet rich in natural sources of vitamin C was found to reduce the risk of atopy in infants, particularly in children at high risk because of a familiarity with the disorder. This information is particularly useful because it gives mothers an instrument to influence significantly, taking care of their nutrition, the health of their children.
